A week late...June 24, 2008

Well I do apologize for being a week late and skipping the previous week altogether. But, at Complete Cycles we had just finished one poker run and were preparing for the second in as many weeks. Excuses aside. Here is how the week of June 24th ride went...

Jeff, our fearless ride leader, had a marvelous idea of the Harrah steak house. His route took us out 23rd street to Harrah. Very uneventful, yet laid back route. SOOOO prior to our leaving he called and let them know of the numbers they were to expect. (Jeff more than accomplished his task of ride leader this week!) So off all 26 riders and 21 bikes! Upon our arrival we enjoyed a lot of banter between the tables. As this was one of the most diverse groups yet. (With 4 sport bikes, one dual sport, one Triumph wanabe, and the remainder cruisers.)

Dinner was fairly uneventful, for those who got food. See that is where the major problem here in lied. There was a handful of persons that did NOT get their  food. It seems that in the confusion of all 26 of us, and 10 regulars. Somehow a few people simply got lost.

There was a handful of first time riders: Brad and Shelly Orchard. (Pronounced oSHard. :poke:), Kelly Smith, Jay Allen, Scott Brown, Jason Billen, Troy Durbin, Steve and Lynn Brackee, and Ken Green. So a big welcome and hope you come back! So ONE to what everyone wants....PICTURES....

June 10, 2008 of Los jinetes locos de la cena

Welcome back or Welcome for the first time. Either way we welcome you.

We could not have asked for a better night or weather. There were 9 bikes, 2 trikes, and a car. Total number of attendees was 21! (REALLY? That is awesome!)

The ride was headed by Joe Clanton. Our destination was Chelino's in Norman. Joe took the group down Sooner Rd to the access road near the old GM plant. From there we took Midwest BLVD to Stanley Draper Dr. This was a beautiful route around the west and southern part of Lake Draper. From there we took Westminster south to Franklin west to 60th south to Alameda and west to Chelino's.

This was definitely a beautiful route. It was lightly traveled and the scenery was filled with green trees and dotted with gorgeous homes. Total distance was about 20 miles. There were few stop signs with fairly light traffic. I would say this was a good ride. Even if we don't do Chelino's this is a great route to Norman for future rides.

The discussion arose as to what to name our new dinner club.  So using the comment link at the bottom of this post. Those with interesting names, post your suggestions. I will then compile the suggestions and bring them to next weeks dinner ride. The person with the winning idea will receive bragging rights and your choice of dinner location for the next week! So think hard and post those names!

So before you leave enjoy these pictures by Julie Goodwin and myself. (If anyone else has pictures email them to w650cafe@gmail.com and I will post them.)

June 3rd Dinner Ride

Well Tuesday night was the first dinner ride out of Complete Cycles. The riders headed north to Fat Tire Burger in Edmond. There was 10bikes and 16 riders. This was a very diverse group with everything from Harley's to Honda's. Seeing this was the first ride we consider the attendance a success and are looking forward to what the summer will bring.

For the most part the ride was uneventful. Once dinner was finished Jim took everyone by his home, cheap way of not having to ride further. As the group left Jim's house the rider leader, Jeff, got lost and ended up closer to Gutherie than MidWest City. So in the future it has been suggested that someone with a GPS lead, or we at least Google map our way home. (poke poke)

So if you are interested. Join us each Tuesday at 6:30pm. We will be leaving Jim Anderson's Complete Cycles promptly at 6:45. We will be enjoying a leisurely ride of 50 miles. Arrive with plenty of gas in the tank and money for dinner.
